Associations, Federations and Special Interest Groups

Aware of the importance of international cooperation for the advancement of science, INSTICC works closely together with several other national and international associations and is proud to welcome them as partners in its activities or to arrange initiatives in cooperation with them.

While several forms of partnership are welcome, INSTICC places special value in "Technical Co-Sponsorships", by means of which both associations support each other from a scientific perspective for their mutual benefit. Additionally, in this case, members of partner organizations benefit from the same registration conditions as INSTICC members.

Current Institutional Partners:

Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication

INSTICC is the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication, a scientific, non-profit, association whose main goals are to serve the international scientific community by promoting, developing and disseminating knowledge in the areas of information systems and technologies, control and communication. It has organized hundreds of successful scientific conferences across the world since 2003, in collaboration with the main international institutions in its areas of interest.

Workflow Management Coalition

Founded in 1993, the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) is a global organization of adopters, developers, consultants, analysts, as well as university and research groups engaged in workflow and BPM. The WfMC creates and contributes to process related standards, educates the market on related issues, and is the only standards organization that concentrates purely on process. The WfMC created Wf-XML and XPDL, the leading process definition language used today in over 80 known solutions to store and exchange process models. XPDL is a process design format for storing the visual diagram and all design time attributes.

Object Management Group

The Object Management Group (OMG) is an international, open membership, not-for-profit computer industry standards consortium. Founded in 1989, OMG standards are driven by vendors, end-users, academic institutions and government agencies.

Netherlands Platform Complex Systems

The Netherlands Platform Complex Systems (NPCS) was founded in November 2015, by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO), the Dutch technology institutes (TNO) and the Dutch Universities. The aim of the NPCS is to encourage communication, exchange and collaboration among scientists and groups in this multidisciplinary research area in the Netherlands. The platform will stimulate community building for researchers working on issues related to complexity and facilitate mutual awareness and exchange of ideas between different groups for various complexity themes. The platform will identify and stimulate areas of complexity research in which scientists from the Netherlands are particularly strong, but will also identify areas of major societal and industrial need. Moreover, the platform should ease access for complexity scientists to (potential) partners in industry and society and stimulate their interaction. The platform will encourage activities that help in developing complexity theory as a coherent field of research, stimulate education at all academic levels, and foster links between the community in the Netherlands and similar initiatives abroad. The board of NPCS is structured around three working groups, aimed at research, education and society. The activities are coordinated by the bureau of the NPCS.

International Federation for Systems Research

The International Federation for Systems Research (IFSR), founded 1981, is a non-profit, scientific and educational organization comprising 45 member organizations (status April 2016) from all continents. The overall purpose of the Federation is to advance cybernetic and systems research and systems applications in order to serve the international systems community (see also its constitution).

European Association for Theoretical Computer Science

European Association for Theoretical Computer Science (EATCS) is an international organization founded in 1972. Its aim is to facilitate the exchange of ideas and results among theoretical computer scientists as well as to stimulate cooperation between the theoretical and the practical community in computer science.

International Society for the Systems Sciences

The International Society for the Systems Sciences (ISSS) is among the first and oldest organizations devoted to interdisciplinary inquiry into the nature of complex systems and remains perhaps the most broadly inclusive. The Society was initially conceived in 1954 at the Stanford Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences by Ludwig von Bertalanffy, Kenneth Boulding, Ralph Gerard, and Anatol Rapoport.

Centre for Chaos and Complex Networks

The Centre aims to promote fundamental and applied research on the emerging and cutting-edge technology of chaos control and synchronization, as well as complex dynamical networks, targeting the academic leadership and commercial and industrial applications.
It provides a visible base for inter-institutional and interdisciplinary cooperations, reaching out to the industrial and financial markets of Hong Kong and beyond.
It also plays a significant role in technological advances and transfer, as well as quality postgraduate training. It is a place for studying nonlinear science and engineering.

Centre for Complex Systems Studies

The Centre for Complex Systems Studies (CCSS) brings together the complexity research of Utrecht University. The centre aims at scientific breakthroughs as well as novel solutions for societally relevant issues by approaching existing problems from the perspective of complex systems science. And in addition to the research, a Bachelor’s minor, a Master’s profile and a summer school programme are offered to educate students in complexity. The Centre for Complex Systems Studies harbours talented young researchers as well as renowned scientists and facilitates the collaboration on complexity science over the boundaries of disciplines.

Laboratory of Informatics, Computational Methods and Information Security

The Laboratory of Informatics, Computational Methods and Information Security is directly under the Faculty of Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. It was formally established in 1992 and its main objectives are two fold: (a) research in informatics, computing and statistics, and (b) educational support in courses related to informatics, computing and statistics from all Departments in the Faculty of Engineering.

The laboratory is active in several research areas, mostly through the research activities of its members and research programs, projects and studies financed by the European Commission, the Greek Science and Research council, the industry, etc. The laboratory is also well equipped with modern IT infrastructure and specialized informatics hardware and software.
